After the death of her husband, Sharda gets married to Governor Jaisingh Sinha. Her eldest son, Sahil resents him, and at a birthday party in front of guests he threatens his stepfather with a knife. The next day he finds his father killed by the same knife, and he is arrested on the spot. In Court everyone of his father's associates, the family doctor, the lawyer, even his own mother testifies against him; he is found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in jail. After a few days in jail, he escapes and a manhunt for him takes place, led by rogue police inspector Udham Singh. One by one all of who had testified against Sahil are either hospitalized in serious conditions or dead like Dr. Gandhi. While trying to extract the truth from Mantri, Sahil finds out that Udham Singh has arrested the real killer, and got a confession out of him. Shortly thereafter, Sahil returns home and his mother forgives him. Then the nightmare re-opens when Udham Singh is stabbed, and no one knows who the real killer is.
Governor Jaisingh Sinha is murdered and the needle of suspicion points towards his estranged son, Sahil Sinha who must prove his innocence.
Manisha is good. Kajol is better. And Bobby is the best .... Screenplay is good, direction is better and music is the best

Well "gupt" happens to be my most favorite Hindi movie and I have seen it 10-12 times !! The story lineup, screenplay, choreography , songs and a pirouette end are the USP of "Gupt".
Rajiv Rai has given the audience his magnum opus !
You should see the movie to gauge it's excellence ! What else to say...!
this song seems to have the bill (brit police soap/drama) theme tune stuck in it!! i was very confused!! why???! although i first saw this movie when i was 14, 8 years on, i just realised what on earth that tune was!! In Gupt Bobby Deol sure is a guy on the move. He romances two women, Kajol and Manisha, bashes up anyone he suspects for his dad's murder and escapes the cops in the nick of the time, displaying the same ESP they do when they trace him to wherever he is. In between, he meets his mother who believes he's knocked off his step-dad to convince her that he's innocent and meets all his dad's friends and colleagues in an effort to trace the real culprit. There's murder, mayhem, chases but little of the promised 'spine chilling suspense'.
