So, I and my Boyfriend love Zombies, comic movies, Josh from Being Human, Vampires and P.I.s This movie had all those aspects and it still managed to inspire nothing in us, and we're not too hard to please. It was by far too serious because of Brandon Routh, lest for Sam Huntington. HE would have made a great Dylan Dog himself. I kept seeing the Angst and Egarness pairing of Constantine with Keano Reeves and Shilabouf, especially with Peter Sormare in the mix. The movie did not click, the actors did not click, the plot did not click. Super zombie? why? nope just cannibalized. I think one of the absolute most IRKING things was, this film was staged in thee best, Spooky, imaginative cities in the USA,New Orleans.
AND NO ONE, NOT A ONE OF THEM, HAD A SOUTHERN ACCENT. D:< !!!!!!!!! TRUE BLOOD DOES BETTER!
Sincerely,if no one was going to TRY or everyone was'implanted' in, just hold it in LA, where all the thuggish vampires live ANYWAYS. I absolutely hated this movie, the scenario in where Dylan Dog goes in to retirement, with the murder of his fiancé,would have been a better movie.
Total Razzie.
Unlike most of other reviews say, the movie is respectful of Dylan Dog comics. There are a lot of details that are not necessary to the story but remind what is found in the comic books (the clarinet, the car, the gun...). There are even two moments where Groucho Marx is visually recalled, as to say: "We really would like to put him in the movie but we can't afford a copyright sue." Above all, Dylan Dog's wit is there. So I didn't mind that there is no London, or that Brandon Routh has too many muscles under the red shirt. Maybe the metaphysical moments of the comic were missing. But I found the story is good, it is a fine noir with horror inserts, about an underground world that is not so underground, and a lot of irony. I was about to say it deserves 8/10. But then, came the final that has terrible effects, bad editing, bad coherence, bad plausibility, and is also unnecessary. It's like as someone came and put in some pages of another script (remember "A night at the Opera"?).
An unapologetic B-movie, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night tries mightily to cover its flaws with a peppering of humor -- much of it supplied courtesy of Dylan's zombie sidekick, played by Sam Huntington -- and an at-times fun "Buffy the Vampire Hunter" vibe.
