That man is Matt Murdock, a lawyer who was blinded as a child. He has to use his superhero abilities to fight the Russian mob, Chinese trafficking system, Japanese gang, and his worst enemy Wilson Fisk (A.K.A. Kingpin).Matthew Murdock, blinded by chemicals, is an attorney at day and vigilante by night. He is trained in the martial arts and feuds with criminals in Hell's Kitchen. As he fights convicts throughout the city, he meets new allies as well as old friends and becomes Daredevil, a symbol of justice for a corrupted city.All the elements in this series are great.Cinematography, acting, cast, music, directing. I wish they had built up Wilson Fisk's personality better. It starts very strong with the art scene.But it goes downward from there. Compare his character with Falcone in Gotham. He is calmness is menacing. He walks behind a man in his dinner table and shoots him behind the head while everyone else is watching.
We are used to see important men surrounded by body guards and guns. Fisk is accompanied by a soft spoken man only who at times looks either bored or disapproval of his boss.
It is especially disappointing that Vincent D'Onofrio's acting has not been put to it's full potential.As someone who loves the Daredevil comics and hates the Daredevil movie, I was both excited and skeptical about this project, I could have been awful, but to my relief, it turn out to be pretty good, in fact, I would go as a far as to call it one of the greatest things in the MCU period. One thing that really surprised me the first time I saw this show was how dark and gritty it was, I never expected that the MCU would ever include something this dark in their catalog, but I'm so glad they did, is definitely a breath of fresh air and adds some variety in their universe. Overall the show has a very high quality, probably why people keep comparing the other MARVEL/Netflix shows to this one, the writing is excellent and almost every character has a lot of great lines, the action scenes are still to this day really impressive, specially for a TV series, also the cinematography has a very cinematic quality as well. By far one of the best things this show has is it's casting, is near perfect, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock was definitely a perfect casting choice, his portrayal of the Man Without Fear made the character justice, also Vincent D'Onofrio was amazing as Wilson Fisk and I can't wait to see more of him. Also John Paesano's score is great, specially the main theme, it really feels like the perfect music for the character. So overall, the show is truly great, one of the best thing marvel has ever done in live-action. It may slow down in some parts but the quality of this show is something that simply can't be denied.Yes, it takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with such films as Iron Man (2008), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Incredible Hulk (2008), and The Avengers (2012), as well as the TV shows Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013) , Agent Carter (2015) and Jessica Jones (2015). As well as upcoming series Luke Cage (2016), and Iron Fist (2017).
The show also makes several references to the Avengers film. Such as "after new york was destroyed", or "unless he has a suit of iron or a magic hammer".
Ben Urich's office also contains framed newspaper covers featuring the events in The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers. Season 1 has been confirmed to take place three years after The Battle of New York. Stick enlists Matt's help to destroy "Black Sky," a weapon that the Japanese mafia, led by Fisk's associate Nobu, are bringing into New York. Matt agrees on the condition that Stick restrain himself from killing anyone, but Stick breaks his promise when it is revealed that Black Sky is a young boy being held in a shipping container with chains around his neck and limbs. Stick fails to kill Black Sky while at the docks with Matt, but later says he killed the boy further up the road. Stick does not go into detail but says that the boy was more than "just a boy" and that Matt would have sensed this had he not been emotional at the moment. Black Sky is not a term previously found Marvel Comics so there is no clear parallel to be found there at this time. What exactly the boy named Black Sky is and how exactly he is a weapon is not revealed as of the first season of Daredevil, and any fan theories are pure speculation. In season 2; Elektra is revealed to be the Black Sky.
