Darksiders is the lovechild of God of War and The Legend of Zelda. It may seem like sort of a rip-off of The Legend of Zelda games more, though, because it pretty much has the exact same equipment and dungeon gimmicks.
However, they’re done surprisingly well and, in some cases, they’re actually better than those in The Legend of Zelda. The dungeon design is superb; Darksiders has some of the best dungeons that I have ever seen in a game. Unfortunately, the platforming is not as fluid as it should be, and you’ll be falling into a LOT of pits because of it. Also, you have to learn early on exactly how to make the best use of the health chests lying around.
Sometimes, you’ll end up fighting major waves of enemies that will totally wipe the floor with you if you opened every single chest you came across. The game does have some difficulty spikes, but it’s totally worth playing through them just to get to the end, which is easily one of the most satisfying endings I have had the pleasure of experiencing.
