In all honesty, I thought that the chances of Ico, one of the most underrated and undersold masterpieces of its time (at least in the states), landing on the PS3 in HD were slim to none. Shadow of the Colossus, also a masterpiece, was a little less of a surprise, considering it’s well deserved worldwide success, making this collection of the two an absolute must buy. Both games share the same atmospheric gracefulness in their sound design (or lack thereof), set pieces, and mythical story lines. In these two titles, game director Fumito Ueda has given life to light and darkness itself. Interactions with the princess Yorda in Ico and Wander’s faithful horse Agro attach you to AI in ways that other games are afraid or unable to accomplish. Whether you’re wielding a two-by-four through a castle or a shining sword through a forsaken land, you will quickly become lost in the unforgettable adventures of the characters Ico and Wander in these two fantastic and interactive fairy tales.
