This standalone, vampire-themed DLC was unexpected and altogether unique. It is short (a 3-4 hour campaign max) with plenty of user-generated content, but any longer would have been a mistake. In an effort to impress a girl in a bar, Zeke recounts a mediocre story of Cole becoming a vampire.
Comparing this game to inFamous 2 is like comparing a direct-to-DVD movie to a full theater release. It’s a fun game, but the combat is worse, and Cole doesn’t function as well. The missions are fairly scarce, and Cole’s awesome electrical powers are seldom used. But in this stripped-down and streamlined version of one of the best PS3 exclusives, you can fly, and that makes all the difference.
Flight time is limited by the amount of blood you’ve recently drained, but you can max it out by finding pots of blood all over the city. Do this ASAP by finding 5 of Mary’s teachings, and you’ll have more fun.
You have to kill a lot of people in this game, so if you aren’t an Evil Cole fan, this isn’t for you. It is a little lackluster compared to A+ titles, but you’ll be glad to have it during your next gaming drought.
